LAST POST HERE
Over the past several years I have been paying for my own domain name and hosting. I only really use it for this blog and for posting images on forums. Since there are free (although not as good) alternatives for both of those and I am just a poor college student, I will not be renewing my domain name or hosting in March. I still enjoy posting my work, so I’ll be moving to Blogger so the few of you who actually read my blog can follow me there! The new URL is:

I promise I’ll start posting again soon. :P
I really will miss this theme though. I love it.

Quick update
In preparation for next month’s tournament at Dragon’s Lair, I’m working overtime to get my IG painted and it’s looking to be a serious possibility. For the first time ever I might just show up with a fully painted army. First up, I painted these 4 stormtroopers yesterday:
Then today, I painted up 4 of my shotgun veterans:
For some reason I find it easiest to paint in groups of 4… I still have a bit more to do (including 3 tanks), but I should be able to get through the rest of my units with a couple non-consecutive days of work. I think I still have a month to finish.

New basing!
I recently ordered some textured plasticard and other materials from Plastruct, Inc. with the intention of making some new bases for my army. The results are pretty nice and I’ve been having a blast building a variety of industrial themed bases. The first five are shown below.
I definitely like these bases more than the original snow themed ones, especially since my army is supposed to be from a hive world. However, next time I buy plasticard, I’ll get the HO scale instead of the O scale, because the diamond plating look s a bit too big.

Ads are gone!
You may have noticed the little Google Ads sidebar is gone now. After over a year and 2100 page impressions, I have decided that the $0.26 I have made off of it wasn’t worth the space it’s taking up. Farewell you irrelevant advertisements for armoured vehicles and sports knee pads.
Sorry I haven’t updated in a while. I’ve got tons of stuff to post though; I just need to stop being lazy. Stay tuned!
I also installed a plugin that should stop the annoying spam comments that I have to keep sifting through… You don’t see them because I require comment approval, but so far there have been 90 spam comments to date. That’s one less time sink for me. I have a feeling that the vast majority of my visitors are actually spam bots1, although I do get a lot of people from Google Image Search who apparently stumble across my pictures while searching for 40k things.

Things I’ve been working on…
I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been working on my IG army a lot so I have some new pictures!

1 of 3 medics in my army... Too bad I don't ever use that many, but it's nice to have some variety. :P
There’s more but they’re all works in progress and look really ugly (reused parts, greenstuff, etc).

Tank Turrets
Just a quick update. I painted two of my tank turrets. I still haven’t painted a new tank chassis though, so this is the same tank you’ve seen before, just with different turrets.
The first one is my magnetized turret with the Eradicator Nova Cannon barrel on it. Now that the turret itself is painted, it won’t be much work to paint the other two barrels. So this saved me from a lot of extra painting.
Next, we have my Forge World Vanquisher Turret.
I’m going to try to get around to painting another tank tomorrow, but it will require some conversion to get the right weapons. I only have about a day left before the tournament so it looks like I’ll be playing with a mostly unpainted army yet again… One of these days I’ll show up with my stuff painted. Everyone will be shocked.

Painted some new stuff
I’ve been pretty productive this past week. First, I painted a whole squad of guardsmen. Then, I built my deathstrike missile launcher, which I posted already. And somehow I also found time to paint all of these guys. As always, click on the thumbnails for bigger pictures.
I’m going to an 1850 point tournament this Saturday. Wish me luck. I’ll need it. -_-

Deathstrike
Today I worked on my Deathstrike Missile Launcher that’s been sitting unfinished for a very long time.
Yes, it’s a very big missile. :] And just so you know, I haven’t painted it yet, hence the mismatched colors. I acquired the vehicle it’s based on in a trade, so it’s not in my scheme.

Why I haven’t posted in a while:
The sad truth is I’ve become a lot less interested in 40k lately. It’s lost a lot of the charm that it had when I was just starting out. When I first got into 40k, it was exciting because things were new and unfamiliar. I remember picking up my first codex and excitedly flipping through it, taking mental note of all of the awesome units and configurations I would eventually try. I imagined all kinds of epic battles. The 4th edition rulebook offered tons of extra scenarios and special rules and I expected to be playing a variety of exciting battles with my friends.
Then I moved here and the truth of what 40k really is slowly became more apparent. It’s all just a competition. All those fun units I saw in my first codex? I soon found out that no one used them. There were certain army builds that worked, and that was all anybody ever used. People are afraid to try units that their peers tell them are less than optimal, because everyone seems more concerned about winning than about having fun. The only scenarios people play now are the 3 standard ones in the 5th edition rulebook. There’s no variety, because those are the three that are played in tournaments and those are the three that are supposedly balanced. Basically the game has become stale. People play the same lists on the same scenarios week after week. And, there is no mystery in the game anymore. Everyone knows everything about how every army plays. They’ve all read every fluff book and know everything about the 40k universe and the game.
My point is that 40k is too serious for me. People treat it more like a job than a hobby. When I go to a “hobby” tournament no one seems like they’re having fun. They’re all just focused on winning. There are actually heated arguments! People get angry at each other… over a game. I try to play interesting lists at tournaments that are supposed to support them, but I always end up having the worst list there. Big surprise… I literally lose every game I play and the sad thing is I’m usually the person having the most fun.
I can’t change the way other people play the game. I’m sure they enjoy it in their own way, but I’ve been coming to the realization lately that maybe 40k isn’t for me. I’m not quitting, but I’m going to be taking it easy for a while… I just haven’t felt like working on anything or even playing for a while. Maybe something will come along and change my mind.
In the meantime if anyone wants to recommend any good tabletop games, I’m open to suggestions, especially inexpensive games. I’m quite poor these days.
